ECU Remapping is the process of changing the settings in your car’s Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU is effectively the computer brain of your car’s engine. Taking cues from stimuli such as the accelerator pedal demand angle and engine temperature, it controls and monitors – amongst other things – engine timings, throttle responses and fuel flow to provide a mix of fuel economy, performance and emissions control.
Once we have the current settings of your car’s ECU, we can then proceed to apply various ECU parameter changes, such as:
ECU Remapping can result in reduced fuel consumption. This is due to the provision of extra torque at the bottom range of your car’s revs. This means less throttle input is required to accelerate and maintain speed. After remapping, your car will be able to be driven in higher gears at lower speeds, reducing revs and therefore using less fuel.
